概要

聖書は16世紀にイエズス会宣教師によって初めて日本語に翻訳されました。新改訳聖書は、1970年に日本聖書協会によって初めて出版されました。これは、ヘブライ語、アラム語、ギリシャ語の原典から完全に翻訳された最初の日本語聖書の一つです。現在、新改訳聖書は日本のプロテスタント諸教派で最も広く使用されている翻訳です。翻訳者たちは、逐語訳と意訳のバランスを取ることを目指し、本質的に直訳に近い翻訳方針を採用しました。これは、英語のスタンダード・バージョン（English Standard Version）に匹敵するものです。

Overview

The Bible was first translated into Japanese by Jesuit missionaries in the sixteenth century. The Shinkaiyaku Seisho, or New Japanese Bible, was first published by the Japanese Bible Society in 1970. It was among the first complete Japanese Bibles translated wholly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Today the Shinkaiyaku Bible is the predominant translation used among Protestant denominations in Japan. The translators adopted an essentially literal translation philosophy, aiming to balance word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation strategies, comparable to the English Standard Version.
