Having experienced for many years the great value and blessing of fasting, the author, with the present book, wanted to share with others what the Bible has to say about such an important and forgotten exercise. His intent was to provide a handbook that not only covered the main scriptural passages pertaining to the subject, but also related practical issues.

This is a balanced study that seeks to give the subject the weight that Scripture gives it and to avoid exaggeration and undue emphasis. It examines the different types of fasting, the purposes and reasons why a Christian may begin a fast, and also contains a diary of a 21-day fast.

Practical questions on the exercise of fasting are covered in the appendix, and information on healthy eating is provided. Finally, there is a list of all biblical references on the subject.
